Our Science Learning Partnership (SLP) is part of the National Science Learning Network. We provide high quality continuing professional development (CPD) for STEM teachers, technicians, lecturers and teaching assistants working with pupils aged 5 to 19.

Our CPD is well established and through needs analysis and DfE priorities; it focuses on an evidence base of what works and makes a difference in schools and the classroom.

Your local SLP is based here at Ashton Community Science College. It provides face to face and tailored courses which are affordable and available locally. This approach will ensure that we all continue to inspire and develop the next generation of scientists and engineers and we have a well informed and scientifically capable society.

Why choose us?

Our professional development has proven impact and it is affordable. There are a number of bursaries available throughout the year which will help fund your CPD delivery.

What have delegates said about our CPD?

Secondary Conference October 2019

"Keynote speech very detailed with actionable advice and guidance for immediate implementation into the department"

"Getting the most out of required practicals - excellent ideas and suggested resources/techniques to assist classroom practice"

"Very though provoking. Lots to take back and share with school"

Whole School Bespoke Session

I had to email you to explain this... My Year 4 teacher (new DT leader) has been making bread.  She gave the pupils the ingredients and method and then left them to crack on!  She said the amount of thinking the children had to do was great - they had to choose their own equipment and measure out their own water etc. She said ordinarily that she would have given them specific equipment for the job and measured out the water for them.

Great learning and language throughout!!
