This week our year 10 students had an amazing opportunity to visit the University of Oxford!

We visited 2 colleges at the university (St Edmund Hall and Queen’s College) and were lucky enough to have campus tours of both. We then went to the Ashmolean Museum for a quick stop to see interesting artefacts and exhibitions such as ‘Art in China’. In the evening we explored the streets of Oxford with spooky stories from the past on a Ghost Tour (Christiana’s group even got a picture with an ‘Orb’/Ghost like figure)! Students then had the opportunity to live life like a student for the evening and dine and stay in the Queen’s College halls of residence, where they each had their own bedrooms with en-suites to relax in.  After breakfast we had a chemistry-break out session where students had to solve the Chemistry puzzles in order to save a person who had been poisoned. It was a big challenge and we definitely heard plenty of ‘Miss Chelton would be proud of us’ around the room. Before leaving, year 10 had the chance to meet two Oxford students to ask any questions they wanted about university life. They were then also impressive in the critical thinking session, which involved them discussing and debating certain questions that could be asked at a University of Oxford interview.

Well done year 10 for representing our school so well and we hope to hear of some stories (a few years from now) about you applying and successfully getting a place at the University of Oxford!
