"The Diggery" brings a whole new dimension to school life at Ashton!

Designed and created in conjunction with The Lancashire Wildlife Trust (LWT), this formerly disused area of the school grounds is being given a new lease of life. Incorporating an outdoor classroom with fire pit, a pond with a dipping platform, an allotment space, a sensory garden, semi-mature woodland, seating areas and quiet reading space, The Diggery brings a whole new dimension to school life at Ashton.

The Diggery will be the venue for the LWTs MyPlace project team to deliver ecotherapy workshops for students in school. They will also deliver the John Muir award to students within the curriculum giving them a totally different educational experience.

The outdoor areas will be open to staff, students and the local community over the coming weeks and months providing a quiet retreat from the hubbub of daily life. Visitors will be able to help with the upkeep and development of the areas or simply relax in the surroundings enjoying the benefits of spending time outdoors and being closer to nature.

Come back soon to see how The Diggery is developing and get news of its official opening.
